OBAMA HYPOCRISY AND THE END OF THE,"COMPELLING STORY"

Since the announcement of the nomination of Sonia Sotomayor as Obama's replacement for Justice David Souter to The Supreme Court, the media has given the American people a deluge of commentary and reporting about the, "compelling story," of her rise from humble beginnings to possibly the highest court in the land.

In fact her, "compelling story," has been so prominent in the media that little has been said about her only real criteria for becoming a SCOTUS Justice and that is her judicial record which is one of activism and decisions based on her background and gender rather than Constitutional principle which in this writers opinion makes her questionable for confirmation. But that is not the subject of this post.

This post will dwell into the realm of the ,"compelling story," and not just Sotomayor but the history of those in our country who have risen to prominence in government service and have had an equal and much greater ,"compelling story," than this likely future Justice whose very rise to nomination reveals the hypocrisy of Barack Obama and the possible end of the, "compelling story," in the future of this Nation.

Our history especially when one looks at the Presidency is filled with people who have had ,"compelling stories." People who have risen from humble beginnings and because of the freedom and liberty that allows any individual to rise from nothing and through hard work and perseverance become among those who are enshrined in the greatness of American history.

In the Presidency alone from Washington to Obama we see stories of men who have risen from poverty to power not because of a hand out or assistance from any government entity but from the sweat of their brow and the understanding that if one wants to achieve in this land of the free then each had the opportunity to do so. Even those President's who were born into wealthy families like Roosevelt, Kennedy and Bush did not look to government for prosperity but became self made men who used their privileged life to shape themselves into individuals who sought to serve their fellow Americans.

In fact many of the men who became President shaped their life of service from the prosperity that was theirs because of the success of generations before them whose ancestors became successful BECAUSE of the freedom to prosper according to ones ability and initiative to seek and find the ,"American Dream."

Not once in our vast and great history do we read or hear of any of our President's or others who have shaped our country through their service to the people when telling of the ,"compelling story," that brought them to historical prominence, not once do any of these great stories of individual success give credit for that success to programs of government assistance. Never do we read or hear of these history makers thanking SSI or the intervention of any other government program for their success, yet this government intervention is the America that Obama is creating for our future.

That is the true hypocrisy of Barack Obama. He nominates an individual to the Supreme Court who is a self made woman and praises her, "compelling story," while instituting through his policy and massive government expansion a Socialist agenda that can make similar ,"compelling stories," less likely as government intervention grows and individual success and prosperity decreases because of government.

In fact the very class of Americans whose success and prosperity have been the greatest force in our strength economically and also in most who have risen to historical significance and influence in our history are the class of Americans that Obama's policy is seeking to punish and even eliminate by his policy of spreading the wealth to those that he believes deserve it more.

Our history as a Nation consists of individuals both in government and in the private sector who have become prosperous because of taking advantage of the freedom in this country to achieve according to ones own ability and drive for success. This freedom is one of the most compelling and fundamental principles of our Nation. It is what causes people from all over the world to seek citizenship in this county. The dream of succeeding though freedom to become anything our heart desires. Those who succeed to high office and corporate giants or the Mom and Pop business are the backbone of American success.

If Obama's agenda of government expansion and intervention forcing Americans into greater dependency on government than we have known in out history is allowed to reach full fruition then ."compelling stories," of personal prosperity through the freedom from government and using ones own ability only to succeed could become a thing of the past.

His punishment of the great achievers who have earned what they have but now according to Obama do not deserve to keep it but must through government intervention be forced to turn that success over to Obama so that he through his ,"infinite," wisdom can redistribute it to those that he believes are more worthy and not earned it, creates a scenario where the American Dream may soon die and the Obama Socialist Utopia becomes reality.

In future generations when one is appointed to the Supreme Court we may hear that the next generations ,"compelling story," is one in which the nominee thanks the government and the welfare state for assisting their parents. Where the nominee thanks the government program that supplied the college education enabling them to study law. Where the nominee states that as a Judge they will use the Constitution only as a quaint reference to America's past but not necessary to determine America's future.

But them if this Obama created Socialist Utopia becomes American reality and the future of our Nation, no one will seek high office because the drive to succeed will disappear as government dependency shapes a generation of Americans who have no desire to achieve because they will have not earned anything they have. They will look to government for the answers that Americans have always sought from God and from their own inner drive to prosper and succeed. The American Dream will no longer exist and The United States will be just another country like others in this world who struggle to survive.

Ken, I have no idea what "Socialist Utopia" you think Obama is creating. I know you don't think Bush is responsible for the economic mess but the reality is that Obama inherited a $1.5 trillion budget deficit (that was the baseline number when he took office for the 2009 fiscal year). He came to office with unemployment rising rapidly and GDP shrinking at 6.3%. If you don't accept that, that is fine, but then you should complain to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the CBO, the U.S. Treasury Department and the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis that was in place in the final weeks of the Bush Administration. These are pretty much their numbers.

Basically President Obama is dealing with one heck of a mess - one not seen since the Great Depression. He offers a level plan that has been endorsed by both conservative and liberal economists. I don't see any ideas for how to address the problem coming from the Right - all I hear is whining.

The American people don't need whining which is why Obama's approval ratings remain above 60 percent and Republicans find themselves as a hopelessly lost minority looking at even further losses in the Senate next year.

I'll make a general comment about the whole Sotomayor "debate" that is emanating from much of the Right. It makes little sense to question her qualifications (as you pointed out earlier). She has 17 years on the Federal bench. She was appointed by both Republican and Democratic presidents. She was confirmed twice by both Republicans and Dems in the Senate.

The idea that she is a racist is just a joke. The blatant racism and sexism that has been directed at her is sickening. As long as these folks (Rush, Newt, Romney, etc.) represent the Republican Party the GOP is a dying political party. That is why super conservative senators like Sessions and Cornyn are trying to tamp down the racist commentaries.

It is events, not ideology shape a president. That said the basic underlying values one brings into office determines how the onrushing events are handled. Sotomayor is without a doubt seen as a radical by those on the right, but she is seen as a moderate by those on the left. Its all in the eye of the beholder. Is the truth somewhere in the middle--who knows. The left is entitled to its position and the right to its. And really its as simple as that. That said the left does use the race card much more than the right, and when it used against them they seen preplexed and thrown off balance. Both sides have a right to play the race card if to them it fits.

How many times you going to keep repeating that lie Rob?

How many times do I need to refer you to the Congressional Budget Office reports?

You just going to keep on lying and hope no one notices?

No they don't Rob. You have a reading disability and it's time you sought help.

The Bush Deficit was NOT $1.5 trillion.

Do you just enjoy repeating lies?

I'd go through the stats again, but it's clear the effort is being wasted on you.

MORON!

The CBO budget projections are pretty depressing. For example, the 2010 deficit is projected at an economy busting $ 1,379B moderating to "only" a debilitating $ 749B in 2014 but then rising to a catastrophic $ 1,189B in 2019. The total 2010-2019 budget deficit tab is a thermonuclear $ 9,270B. I thank you Mr. President and so do my children and grandcildren.
It's ridiculous to suggest that Obama's economic plan is accepted by Conservative economists. Any economist who endorses such massive spending is by definition NOT Conservative. Two conservative economists who immediately come to mind who have blasted Obama's policies are Walter Williams at George Mason U and Thomas Sowell at Stanford.
Regarding Ms. Sotomayor's quote. If anyone thinks that her quote was not racist, would you feel the same way about a white man saying:" I would hope that a wise white man with the richness of his experiences would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a non white woman who hasn't lived that life.” Please be honest.

Mike, go back and look at the links you posted up a couple of weeks ago. JUST LOOK AT THEM!

Dennis, I have explained the rationale and need for the Obama plan enough times already. Obama came to office with GDP declining by 6.3% on an annualized basis. The first thing the government has to do is shock the system back into the positive. You run up deficits and then once the economy is growing again you work on the deficit - that is exactly what is happening.

JUST TO HELP YOU OUT MIKE HERE IS WHAT YOU POSTED ON KEN'S MAY 3 POST:

Obama's deficits:

http://blog.heritage.org/2009/03/24/bush-deficit-vs-obama-deficit-in-pictures/

And for 2009, CBO estimates Bush's deficit at MUCH less than Rob's hyperinflated claim of $1.5 trillion:

http://budget.house.gov/doc-library/fy2009/01.07.09_CBO_January_Baseline.pdf

Say NO to drugs Rob!

HERE WAS MY RESPONSE ON May 05, 2009:

Mike you must be an idiot, or you don't understand what you are posting. The CBO link you put up shows a $1.2 trillion budget deficit for FY 2009. The Heritage Foundation blog link shows the CBO estimate for FY 2009 to be $1.85 trillion.

FYI, Obama's first proposed budget is for FY 2010.

MIKE, I KNOW YOU DON'T HAVE A CLUE, BUT I HAVE TO LAUGH WHEN YOU POST UP INFORMATION THAT BACKS ME UP AND THEN YOU ACTUALLY THINK YOU ARE REBUTTING ME.

Rob, the CBO data don't lie. They project huge deficits for years to come as a result of Obama's policies. The CBO also assumes that GDP will increase from the current $14,057B to $ 20,966B in 2019. That's an annual average increase over the 10 year period of about 4% which is very optimistic. If GDP growth is lower, the deficits will be even higher. Also, how exctly do you "work on the deficit"?

The CBO don't lie? How much do you want to bet that next year's 10 year CBO numbers will be different from this year? They could be better or they could be worse. The CBO provides baseline numbers, but they aren't accurate over the full projection term.

To address the deficit there are tons of things that can be done. Hold the line on certain non-discretionary spending. Fix health care and get a single-payer system. Eliminate Medicare Part D. Add tax revenues through a VAT. Get rid of corporate welfare. Those are things that need to be considered once the economy is growing again. Nothing should be off the table to address the deficit but we need to have the economy growing again.

Add tax revenues thru VAT? That will kill the economy and the deficit will explode. Fix healthcare with a single payer system? That will explode government spending and take the economy along with it. Hold the line on non-discretionary spending? When have Liberals ever done that? The CBO projections, if anything, are optimistic. I would expect that the next revision will show the deficits increasing. The only way to decrease deficits is to rein in the size of government. It's time to begin deconstructing the Federal bureaucracy now.

Rob: I realize you are clinging to your petty false assumptions because that's all you have.

Easier for you to do that rather than face the fact that Obama is the biggest spender OF ALL TIME!

I was actually at the CBO site today looking at some additional projections and there is no way your figure stands up. You're off by hundreds of billions of dollars.

And I realize those sums seem like small change to socialists like youself who now accept deficits in TRILLIONS, but from where I come from, hundreds of billions of dollars still adds up to real money.

Sorry, but your tiresome effort to deceive people and excuse Obama's big spending just doesn't pass the laugh test.

You're becoming a joke.
