SONIA SOTOMAYOR IN HER OWN WORDS
When contemplating a nominee to the Supreme Court of The United States, that nominees race, gender or personal back ground, or , "story," as the media calls it, should not and cannot be the bench mark upon which the confirmation of that nominee is based.
Yet the nomination of Sonia Sotomayor is being heralded only because of her race, her gender and her, "story," while her judicial qualifications and what she believes is the responsibility of a judge on the bench are secondary if mentioned at all.
Sotomayor is an activist judge who believes that policy is made by the court. She believes that court decisions are not based upon the rule of law as expressed in the Constitution but based upon race, gender and social status.
Her very words as expressed in the above video prove not only her activism as a judge but her total disregard to being impartial in her judicial decisions and strict adherence to the Constitution as it is written which is the primary duty of a Supreme Court Justice.
Opposition of her appointment is already being condemned and threatened solely because she is Latino and a woman. In fact those who oppose her are being told that it is dangerous for their political and/or party future based solely on her race and gender.
The truly dangerous action would be to promote and accept her nomination without question just because of her race and gender which is what is being suggested by the media, Democrats and administration spokesman.
Only a full vetting with tough questions based solely upon her judicial record and judicial beliefs is appropriate for her confirmation for the highest court in the land. Based upon her own words and judicial belief, Sotomayor does not meet true impartial and strict Constitutional adherence qualifications for sitting in judgement on the Supreme Court.
Unfortunately her confirmation is all but a given as opposition is condemned because of who she is and not what she does and believes from a strict judicial stand point. So activism will become part of the Supreme Court. Disregard for the true and principled intent of the Constitution will be set aside by this judge when making decisions as a Justice. All to promote her race and gender as the sole reason for her appointment and confirmation to SCOTUS.

I keep reading about and hearing about the "flavor" Sotomayer will add to the Supreme Court. Excuse me, it's not a pot of stew, it's the constitution, a document on which our laws are based. I don't want her adding "flavor"
To "anonymous",
The blog was NOT made up. If you'd bother to pull your head out of your 4th point of contact & pay attention to your much-vaunted MSM, you'd see that what is being said is true.
Calling names without substantition will NOT win you any converts - except to the equally brain dead.

The news reports I've seen take her remarks out of context. She was not making a general statement. She was speaking about issues of discrimination based on race or sex. Read her original statement, not just the one-sentence out of context quote.
If the matter under discussion was the Americans with Disabilities Act, and someone said, "I would hope that a wise person who uses a wheelchair, with the richness of their experiences, would more often than not reach a better conclusion than an able-bodied person who hasn't lived that life", would anyone have problems with that?
Note that she said that "she would hope", not that she thought, or that she was sure. Furthermore, she clearly stated that she knows that white males can and often do make just decisions on issues of race and sex; she referred to Brown v. Board of Education, which was a unanimous decision by nine white males, as an example.
Supreme Court Justices Alito and Scalia have made similar statements as Sotomayer. Alito (a Bush appointment) said his family suffered from discrimination because of their ethnic background and some members of his family suffered discrimination because of their gender, and he admitted at his confirmation hearings that those experiences would definitely shape some of his decisions on the high court. Every justice brings a different perspective to the court because of their life experiences. Sandra Day O'Connor said as a woman she experienced things that most of her male colleagues never had to deal with, such as graduating at the very top of her law school at Stanford, but when hired by a law firm (her first job), she was assigned clerking and secretarial type duties. I wonder why conservatives never raised one peep of protest when these justices talked about their backgrounds and how they felt it would play a part in their decision making. OOps! That's right. These justices were thought to be conservative! No wonder! Silly me! Of course, surprise surprise! O'Connor sometimes took the moderate position on deciding a case.
The Veterans Administration says they have gotten the largest amount of money they have ever received in the past from the Obama administration, and the word is out that if you are a vet and did not get the help you needed in the past, contact them again in the near future, because they are trying their best to bring all the services for vets up to snuff. Many vets suffered substandard treatment under the Bush administration, but Secretary of Defense Gates says things are going to change with the Obama Administration, and they now have the funds to start getting proper care for disabled and wounded vets. A lot more will be done for troops suffering from post traumatic syndrome. Please guys, if you are suffering from depression, anxiety, nightmares that won't go away, please please don't give up trying to get help through the V.A. When General Shinseki showed up for his first day as the new head of the Veterans Administration, he found pile after pile after pile of files that reached toward the ceiling, still waiting to be processed. They are moving as fast as they can playing catch-up, so get your name on the list as soon as possible!
This is an extremely confusing comment thread. Too many "anonymous's" so you can't tell if they're the same people or not, and MAREE is hollering (typing in caps on the internet is considered hollering) but I don't know exactly who she's hollering at.
But the post is right on and I'm in full agreement, Ken. Her statement proves she's bigotted against white men, and can you even imagine the hullabaloo the left would raise if a potential candidate for the Supreme Court and a white man said what she said, only in reverse? He'd be thrown out so fast they wouldn't know what happened to him! The MSM would be ready to crucify him. It's really ridiculous what the nutjobs in Washington are doing to this country, and what's even more ridiculous is that the sheeple are putting up with it!
The gardening in the hot Texas sun is backbreaking, hard and dirty work, but it's almost a relief from politics.
Anonymous: It's not out of context. Why don't YOU read the entire statement she made. Perhaps you'll realize that what she said is MUCH WORSE than even the quote implies.
Ah, but that might be too much work to actually think for yourself and do some basic research. Much easier to keep repeating lying talking points.
