YoU cAn'T mAkE tHiS sTuFf Up - MURRAY, Utah — The mayor of the Salt Lake City suburb of Murray says he has little choice but to shave his nearly foot-long handlebar mustache for a children's charity. Dan Snarr is putting the decision to a vote of residents and says his fashion statement is "getting creamed."


Besides, his wife hates it. She's sick of puckering up for a kiss and getting poked in the eye Yet the 59-year-old Snarr also is facing pressure from the mustache lobby. The St. Louis-based American Mustache Institute got wind of his plans and called on Snarr to keep a stiff upper lip in the face of opposition. A local Costco warehouse store says residents have been voting since May 1. Votes will be counted May 16. Snarr says the shave votes far outnumber the save votes and that his graying mustache is doomed.

The days of whining that he ,"inherited,' everything from Bush are over. The deficit for 2009 has quadrupled since he took office because of his spending. Spending has increased ten fold since he took office. If he wants to blame some Obama need look no further than the mirror.







YoU cAn'T mAkE tHiS sTuFf Up - NEW ORLEANS — A Louisiana woman is suing a Wal-Mart store over what she claims was a much-too-close encounter of the furry kind. Rebecca White says in her lawsuit that employees at a Wal-Mart in Abbeville let a rat-tailed rodent known as a nutria run loose and scare her. She says that not only did employees know it was in their store, but gave it a pet name, Norman, and failed to warn shoppers.

White says she was pushing a full shopping cart down an aisle in October when the nutria ran out from behind a rack. She says she pulled the cart backward in a panicked attempt to protect herself and hurt her back and foot. White wants compensation for pain, suffering, mental anguish, fear, disabling injuries, and medical expenses. Her attorney says the surgery bills aren't in yet, but other medical bills totaled nearly $2,000.

YoU cAn'T mAkE tHiS sTuFf Up - BELLEVUE, Wash. - Police in this Seattle suburb didn't have to go far to arrest a man for investigation of car prowling. He was found sleeping in a special weapons and tactics van. Officer Greg Grannis said a municipal worker reported someone breaking into cars, including his own, shortly before midnight Monday.

Officers quickly found burglarized cars, but couldn't determine who might be responsible — until about 4:50 a.m., when two SWAT team members came to the police vehicle maintenance yard to get their van and found a 25-year-old transient asleep in the back, Grannis said.The man, whose his last known home address was in Louisiana, was booked into the King County jail for investigation of burglary.
