JOHN MCCAIN BEING MCCAIN - NOT A ,"STUNT !"

On Wednesday, John McCain suspended his campaign to return to Washington in order to work with the President, and the Congress in order to get a workable package put together to address the mortgage collapse on Wall Street. Immediately he was accused by the left and the Obama campaign of creating a political stunt in order to shore up, "sagging, " poll numbers.

First the poll numbers remain in a statistical tie no matter which poll one looks at, so why would a political stunt be necessary ? Second this type of move by McCain is typical McCain. He has and will always be a doer and not one to just sit back and let things fall as they may. This doer approach has been one of the reasons that he has had disagreements with the GOP conservative base because some of the legislation that he has been involved in has been in opposition to conservatives and the President.

McCain saw in the 700 billion dollar bailout a massive expenditure for the American people with little or no ability to recoup taxpayer monies and an equally small amount of oversight in securing that not only would financial aspect of the collapsed be handled but little resolution to preventing this from happening again.

Barack Obama's response of, "call me if you need me, " was a lame attempt by Obama to try and portray himself and interested but at a distance. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid is actually on record in stating that the Senate, "needed, " John McCain in order to pass the legislation and as always McCain set aside self for the betterment of the country.

If this was a political stunt by McCain, why then was he not before the cameras at every opportunity promoting his work on the legislation. I noticed that at every instance a camera was available Barack Obama was in front of it making accusations against the GOP as to why the bill was not a done deal.

Throughout the day it was reported falsely that a deal was at hand , which was never the case and that to was why McCain felt it necessary to leave the campaign and return to Washington in order to assist in any way he could to get the ball moving and try to get a bill that would work and protect American taxpayers at the same time and as quickly as possible.

For this effort he has been accused of political grand standing. Even Bill Clinton defended McCain's return to Washington stating that he suspended his campaign, " in good faith, " that the Obama campaign would act accordingly and that the debate scheduled for Friday night could easily be postponed. In response to those including the Obama campaign who have tried to claim that McCain was , "afraid, " to debate Obama, Clinton reminded that it was McCain who wanted 10 or more debates and Obama was the candidate who balked at debating. So fear of the debate was and is not a factor.

John McCain is being John McCain in a crisis. Obama stated that a President must be able to do more than one thing at once, which was another lame response by the Democrat. If any President was overseas, at a conference or other pressing business and a situation similar to what has happened in the past week arose and necessary legislation was pending, that President regardless of party would immediately return to Washington to deal with the crisis

McCain's action were right on the mark while Obama said, " call me if you need me." Similar to voting , "present," as he has done so often as a legislator. We need a President who will put country above self. A President who understands that the necessities of his responsibility many times require his direct and personal intervention. A President who responds to a crisis with action and not just words. A President like John McCain whose actions speak for themselves and who went when needed instead of waiting for a phone call.

Give me a break. The poll numbers have dramatically shifted against McCain over the last week.

He has been unusually erratic in his behavior. Last week he told us the "fundamentals of the economy were strong." He changed his mind when he realized how out of touch he was.

Then he called for a commisson which was roundly laughed at. So the next day he changed his mind.

He called for firing Chris Cox as the SEC Chairman - for no real reason.

On Wednesday he was asked whether he agreed with the Bush/Paulson plan and he said he hadn't read it. HE GOT IT ON MONDAY AND IT IS 2 AND A HALF PAGES!!! He didn't read it but he suspended his campaign? What a freaking joke.

His surrogates are still out in force on the cable news networks. He is still running ads. He and Palin did interviews with CBS (that Palin interview was a joke).

He popped into Washington for a photo op yesterday and still has not expressed a position about whether he supports the Bush/Paulson plan.

There isn't a deal and even though he said he would not debate if there was no deal, apparently he has again changed his mind.

The guy is running around like a chicken with its head cut off. It is odd behavior for a presidential candidate.

Geez, Ken... does Rob live here? LOL!

Yes, Obama's "call me if you need me" was indeed lame. But then, Obama is lame, so it was to be expected. I wonder how many times he will stammer "uh...uh...uh...uh..." I'm going to try to count them. LOL! He's never done well without a teleprompter. I know he has been primed by his people and thinks he's ready for this. We shall see.

Gayle, neither Obama nor McCain are on the Senate Banking Committee. They don't have anything to do with the Senate negotiations.

Gayle, I work on a computer all day and regularly pop into this blog. It is the only Right Wing blog I read.

Meanwhile AFTER the debate John McCain goes back to Washington to insert his own provisions in this economic bill.

And Obama Hit's the campaign trail!

We now know where Obama's priorities lie!

Yeah, his priorities are explaining to the American people why he should be President. He and Joe Biden are in North Carolina. If they are needed in Washington they can easily make their way up.

McCain isn't on the Senate Banking Committee so he has nothing to offer. He is not inserting any provisions and he is not part of any negotiations.

I have one question for anyone who can answer it. Where is Palin? It seems to me they are so afraid of her looking even more foolish than she did with Katie Couric that they have her locked away in some tower. It is pathetic how little confidence McCain has in her.

LOL, Okay, Rob. I have a couple of liberals who only read my blog, so I understand.

Governor Palin is preparing for her debate with the Mad Hatter. :)
