MCCAIN WIN WITH ELECTORAL VOTE BREAKDOWN

While all of us have been following the polling in the head to head contest between John McCain and/or Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama one of the most telling polls that I have come across is the breakdown in Electoral Votes State by State.

As the polling shows now in Electoral votes John McCain would beat both Hillary and Obama with a comfortable margin over both Democrat candidates. In the head to head contest for Electoral votes McCain beats Clinton and Obama 263 - 239.

There are 36 toss up votes. Against Clinton those votes come from Wisconsin and Tennessee. In 2004 Tennessee went to the GOP and Wisconsin went to the Democrats. Factoring in the last results this would add 11 to McCain and 17 to Clinton which still gives McCain a victory at 274 to Clinton's 256.

Against Obama the States of Virginia, New Jersey and Michigan are a toss up. Again based on 2004 results, New Jersey and Michigan went to the Democrats while Virginia went GOP. Factoring in those numbers John McCain would win 276 - 271. There are 270 votes required to win the Presidency. The State by State breakdown factors in which candidate is leading in polling from that State. These numbers also include the larger normally Democrat States like Californian and New York going Democrat

With this breakdown State by State and the Electoral Votes needed for Victory, John McCain will be the next President unless a dramatic shift occurs between now an November.

I am very encouraged by the latest poll numbers showing how strong a candidate McCain is. Now, if Clinton and Obama will keep bickering between themselves, then McCain might have an even better shot at winning the White House.

It's amazing that even when the Democrats start out with so many advantages, that they are able to shoot themselves in the foot (or feet!).

I agree with Marie... all is calm on the Republican side but the Dems are imploding faster than I can keep up with. Let's hope it continues! :)

Way too early for doing an Electoral College breakdown.

The only thing we know for sure right now is that Dems are far more enthusiastic given the turnout numbers. That bodes well for the general election.

Before the 2006 election, we saw similar trends in the primaries and sure enough it ended up that Republicans got routed.

uh, stupid Republican...you've got McCain beating Obama with 547 Electoral Votes cast. There are only 538. Maybe those extra ones came from your shortage of Electoral Votes in McCain/Clinton. Further proof the GOP is anti-science - you can't even do basic math.
