DEMOCRATS WITH BLOOD ON THEIR HANDS! - THE SUNDAY COMMENTARY

I was listening to a syndicated radio talk show during the early morning hours when an unsolicited call came from a listener who happened to be a platoon Sargent stationed in Germany. This American soldier called because of a grave concern that he had as a platoon Sargent responsible for the lives of the men who served under him. His Unit is preparing to leave for Iraq and his platoon was leaving WITHOUT completing two training cycles that he as a platoon leader had followed in two previous tours in Iraq.

His concern was expressed because as a platoon leader he was informed by his superiors that because of a military funding shortage the training cycles that he and his Unit were accustomed to which better prepared them for combat operations could not be scheduled and their deployment would take place without this additional training. He was very concerned for five soldiers in his platoon who were fresh from boot camp and in whom he as a platoon Sargent understood needed the additional training.

He was also angry. Not because of the deployment of his Unit. He understood the necessity of his deployment and why his unit was needed to increase troop strength in Iraq. He was angry at Democrats in Congress. He was angry because his unit was not better prepared for combat operations while Democrats, as he put it, " played politics with our funding." He then stated that as far as he was concerned if one soldier in his platoon was wounded or killed in this deployment especially one of those straight out of boot camp that Democrats would have blood on their hands for playing politics with troop support and funding.

"Blood on their hands!" Democrats are playing with the lives of the very men and women who have volunteered to fight and possibly die for this country. Why ? Simply put they are power hungry, they believe that they rather than the President, (the Constitutionally responsible officer of the government for military affairs), should have control over military strategy and deployment.

So while they play political power games with military appropriations bills soldiers are leaving to fight for our freedoms without the necessary support to protect them and prepare them for the fight. Soon these political games will begin affecting equipment and necessary supplies for soldiers already in the field of battle.

But do Democrats care ? Obviously not! After all while this much needed and necessary appropriations bill is being dangled as a political football filled with pork barrel spending, Democrats have taken a recess rather than remaining in Washington to finish the bill and send it to the President. Even though he is promising a VETO because of the pork and the unconstitutional time lines in the bill the process would be well on its way to find ground that would get the money to the soldiers in the field and those who are preparing to leave.

But do Democrats care ? No ! It has become painfully obvious that political power and usurping the Constitution is more important that supporting the troops. Their disgusting and hypocritical rhetoric claiming support for the troops then playing politics with their funding and expressing that if the President refuses to cave to their unconstitutional political games then they will DE - FUND the war shows their utter contempt for the military and the very men and women who fight to give them the right to even serve in Congress.

Their hypocrisy will not even accept blame for this contempt for the military. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid expressed before leaving for his Easter vacation that if the President Vetoed this unconstitutional bill that attempts to weaken the Presidency and take military control from the Commander in Chief giving it to Congress, that he, (the President), was responsible for leaving the troops without the necessary funding. Wrong Mr. Reid it is YOU and your fellow Democrats who bear full responsibility for leaving our troops without proper support not the President. He did not created unconstitutional time lines nor add billions of dollars of disgusting pork spending to a bill funding the troops.

Our troops are sacrificing and fighting in foreign fields fighting an enemy whose only concern about American politics is joy in seeing infighting orchestrated by Democrats whose power lust gives this enemy encouragement and emboldens them to fight knowing that America is weak in our resolve because of these Democrat games. This enemy is using this power grab by power hungry Democrats as a means to rally their followers and kill more Americans. This will not stop in the foreign fields as this enemy is also using this emboldening move by Democrats to prepare for the next attack on American soil.

Democrats have the blood of Americans on their hands while they seek power in Washington

Nancy Pelosi, Cpl. Trevor A. Roberts died while defending your freedoms now while you play games with troop support the blood of his comrades who are wounded or killed is on your hands!

Harry Reid, Sgt. Emerson N. Brand died in Baghdad defending your freedoms and you now play political games with funding that will better prepare his comrades for the fight and their blood is on your hands!

John Murtha, Pfc. Stephen K. Richardson died in Iraq fighting for your right to berate the military and while you play games with their funding the blood of his comrades is on your hands!

House Majority Whip James E Clyburn, Cpl. Dustin J. Lee died in Anbar Province in Iraq fighting for you and your playing games with funding makes you responsible for the blood of his comrades.

House Armed Services Committee Chairman Ike Skelton, Sgt. Ed Santini died in Baghdad defending your liberties and now you play with funding for his comrades and their blood is on your hands.

Senate Armed Services Committee Chairman Carl Levin, Sgt. Adrian J. Lewis died from wounds received in Ramadi, Iraq fighting for you and your political games with military funding places the blood of his comrades on your hands.

Democrats In the House and Senate 3597 men and women of the United States military have died in Iraq and Afghanistan fighting an enemy who seeks the destruction of our country and the death of every American. Now in your lust for political power your leadership and each member who receives the pork and votes for unconstitutional time lines has the blood of every hero in the field on your hands while you deny their support, their funding, their training, their equipment and their right to fight for their country with every means necessary to insure their protection and their ability to win!

Well, how about the terrorists, the insurgents, the homicide bombers? They have no blood on their hands?

With your type of mentality, by the same token, I could accuse you of having blood on your hands in the same spirit as a Jane Fonda.

And no, I'm not accusing you; just flinging back the kind of hate-spew you just flung, as an example of how foolish your comment was.

Really, do you ever think before you comment? Or are you like, some sort of automated spambot for conservative blogs? If I were a lefty, I'd find your comments deeply embarrassing.

Ken, very good point! Anyone who refuses to give full support, mentally, physically, monetary and every other way to our military is complicit in the lengthening of the war on terror.

And they have blood on their hands.

Ken, ever since you started breaking up your posts in paragaphs it has become easier to read. Thanks.

Ken, the Dems in both the House and the Senate are requiring that all soldiers who are sent to Iraq have proper training, or be given a waiver by the President. It is the President who is rushing soldiers off to Iraq without proper training.

Tony Snow was asked about the fact that troops are being sent to Iraq without training (which has directly led to friendly fire deaths) - Snow said that soldiers were getting training in Iraq. Yeah right.

http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2007/02/20070228-5.html

We don't have enough troops to maintain the President's Iraqi commitment - that is why we have so many National Guard and Reserve forces serving in forward positions. These folks do not have adequate equipment or training for their assignments.

Of course, Dems have been talking about this for several years now - but Bush doesn't care because his legacy is tied to Iraq.

Pelosi, Murtha, Skelton, and Obey set the record straight on what they are requiring and what they are providing to the troops in the latest House vote. You can read the transcript yourself.

This is Bush's war. He has badly mismanaged it. And the blood of American soldiers is on his hands. The Dems are just trying to do the work of the American people, who are against the war and recognize the horrible mistakes of this president.

Dang, Ken... is there a Moonbat Magnet attached to your blog?

I didn't get half-way through this post before I thought: "the Democrats already have blood on their hands." I feel sorry for this soldier who must take troops to Iraq without proper training and I also feel for the troops, unlike the two liberal nutjobs posting here. The only glue you sniff is the glue of true American patriotism which neither of these people know anything about.

Great post, Ken. Keep up the good work!

Gayle, you do realize that Bush's Iraq war plan has been fully funded to date, and is currently fully funded through at least the end of May (there are estimates that show that the troops are fully funded through July).

Thus, any American troops who are being sent into theater without proper training and equipment are the responsibility of the CIC.

If you want to deny that very basic fact, that is up to you, but it remains a fact. Falsely blaming Dems for Bush's failures may make you feel better, but is fundamentally incorrect. Certainly it doesn't change the fact that Bush is ultimately responsible for sending untrained American soldiers to their deaths in Iraq.

Tony Snow's dismissive attitude that I cited in the post above illustrates how little the White House values troop training.

Wow Ken I could feel the passion in this post.

Now that Terrorist Tour 2007 is over, Syriana Pelosi and the RINO Republicans need to get thier asses back to work and change the bill to fund the Troops, send the current bill to the President so he can Veto it, waste more time with them drawing up a new one, (The first could easily be changed), or just quit funding the Troops altogether instead of playing politics with our Soldiers lives.

If the Democrats seriously believe they were sent there to stop the war (I have my doubts on that one) then stop it!

Quit screwing around.

They really do have blood on thier hands with all this political bullshit going on, either fund the Troops or dont!

Everyone is getting sick of the Democrats already, except the hard core left. And they have already proven themselves to be Lunatics.

Look Catfish,

The Democrats are making it impossible for President Bush to sign this PORK filled bill with a timetable for withdrawl.

And they are doing it on purpose and YOU know it.

You bet your bippie Bush will not sign that piece of crap, and the Democrats better get to writing a whole new bill the President CAN sign and fast. Or the Democrats will be known forever as the Party that left our Troops in the Dust Litteraly!

Get used to that!!

Marie, just how long do you think we should remain in Iraq? Given that over 60 percent of Americans believe invading Iraq was a mistake and want to end our commitment - how long do you think we should stay.

Please don't say "until the job is complete." After 4 worsening years of violence, I am really curious how many more years you believe we should remain.

FYI, there is far less pork in the bill that is being sent to the President than the war funding supplementals that the Republicans sent. In fact, DeLay mastered the use of fiscal goodies to "secure" votes in all kinds of funding bills. He was a master of it. That is why the National Debt and the deficits exploded over the first 6 years of Bush's presidency. The idea that Bush has suddenly become fiscally responsible is just a joke.

If playing that stupid "Bush's war" crap helps keep the lid of your delusions on tight, go for it.

But let's talk about the 289 American citizens murdered in attacks by Iranian and Syrian proxies over the last 28 years.

And there was Nancy Pelosi shaking the hand of Assad, whose agents are STILL killing Americans in Iraq and innocent Israelis.

Pelosi has blood on her hands JUST FOR THAT ALONE.

Not that it will make the slightest difference to you moonbats.

You should know when I was at the Viet Nam Memorial alot of people were there that voted for the Democrats and are damn sorry they did now because they didnt think they were going to pull this crap, in other words they were "Misinformed" by the Democrats, believed every word that was uttered in different states and I'm not so sure anymore that they voted down the party line against the President anymore. They seem to have voted for each candidate seperately which just so happen to have been Democrat's with lots of promises that wont be fulfilled, those people are aware of that now, but they were misinformed then. So this 60% of the population is against this war and our President is nonsense.

And I believe we HAVE to stay in Iraq until the IRAQI's can take care of themselves in EVERY way or Iran will move in and take over the very minute we leave, and YOU know that as well as every American knows it.

FYI, there is far less pork in the bill that is being sent to the President than the war funding supplementals that the Republicans sent. Really!! You believe Peanut Storage and Spinach Growing supplementals among quite a few other pork shoving priorities should have been in a Troop funding bill? Have you read that thing?

The President doesnt have Line Item Veto power, or he would have cut ALL that crap out of the Republican supplementals that were sent to his desk as well, but this beats all. Tom Delay couldnt have thought this one up even with his recklessness. One difference, the Republicans never sent him a Bill with a date Certain for withdrawl in it. Why do you people insist on letting the enemy know when we are leaving instead of just pulling out quietly so the enemy never knows the difference?

Thanks Marie. So basically you believe we should be in Iraq forever. You are in denial about what the American people think about the Iraq debacle. And, you have no comprehension of how much pork DeLay and Ted Stevens pushed through in their time as "leaders" in Congress.

There is little reason to discuss the first two, but you should at least be aware of basic facts about the pork-barrel spending of the Republican Congress. The spending was exactly the reason fiscal conservatives were outraged.

Read about some of the Republican pork (far more than the Dems have put into the latest bill) from the Heritage Foundation (hardly a left-wing organization):

Rob, you are absolutely right. Fiscal conservatives like me have been in a spasm over the GOP and their pork.

Completely irrelevant to the current debate about the funding bill. You cannot justify buying votes with this pork, and then going into recess, just because "someone else did it" and you certainly can't assert that the dems have done the same for decades. It isn't a recent invention.

Also, the "will" of the people on Iraq has little to do witht eh strategic and tactical decisions that have to be made. You think we should have a vote before every military engagement? You think that the people in this country who vote have some advanced knowledge of military and/or political affairs?

The current "will" of the people represents an emotional argument, not one of reason. It represents a rabid anti-everything media/left wing who have spent the years counting the number of American deaths, but I have not seen a SINGLE report on the tally of the enemy bodycount. I know, the military wisely does not do that anymore, but no one has reported that it is something like 10x or more the number of Americans who have died.

We should be in Iraq as long as it takes. Should we not learn from Afghanistan and the Soviets?

Let's be clear about 3 things. First, the way Washington operates is that pork is a reality and the ruling party has budget authority. We can cry about it all we want, but that is the reality.

Second, that is why split government with checks and balances works sooooooooo much better.

Third, the relative amount of pork in the current supplemental is far less than anything that was put into the prior war supplementals or other bills like the transportation bills under Republican rule. So, I would argue that progress is certainly being made.

As for staying the course and trying to create a western-style democracy, it is a quixotic pursuit that will NEVER, EVER happen under an American occupation.

The idea that a mostly white, mostly Christian, American army could occupy a Muslim country in the heart of the Middle East is laughable on its face. It was ridiculous prior to the invasion, and we have seen plenty of bloody evidence to illustrate how sickeningly stupid that idea was.

On top of that, the current Iraqi government is not only corrupt, but is not worthy of defending given its open support of Iran (they are both Shiite).

But let's actually assume for a minute that the Iraqis actually wanted Western democracy (which is an unrealistic assumption, but I'll humor the thought). How in the world do you think Iraq's warring factions are going to resolve their differences in any reasonable amount of time? They have been in a blood feud for over a thousand years.

There are a lot of good and decent folks in this country (and on this blog) who can have intelligent, adult debate over their differences. But unfortunately, we also have folks who openly express their hatred for other AMERICANS who have different political leanings. We don't even have a blood feud, yet we have great trouble reaching consensus on issues. Yet, you expect folks halfway around the world who have been literally warring with each other for centuries to come together and create a functioning Jeffersonian democracy. On top of that, they are being forced to accept democracy in a world of American military occupation. Silly if you ask me.

So... The Democrats present a "pork" laden bill as someone stated and Bush will not sign it.

Yet... Ken only sees the blood on the Democrat's hands. How about the blood on Bush's hands for Ordering unprepared troops into combat.

Was it the Democrats who sent the troops into Iraq in the first place with under-rated armor and no plan for a sustained engagement.

Your vitriolic hatred of the Democrats blinds you to the fact that the Bush Administration is just as culpable as the Democrats for the position we are in.
