TODAY'S DEMOCRATS AND THE McGOVERN EXAMPLE - THE SUNDAY COMMENTARY
This last week has been a particularly bad week for Democrats. Personally ANY week that one is a Democrat would be a bad week but THAT is another story ! The week began with John Kerry claiming that our troops were terrorizing Iraqi, "children and women." This was Sunday. Monday Howard Dean stated on a San Antonio radio station that the idea of the US winning in Iraq was, "simply wrong." Tuesday brought Joe Lieberman blasting his party about undermining the war and the President during a time of war. Throughout Nancy Pelosi attempted to get a resolution condemning Republicans for a, "culture of corruption, " while joining John Murtha ranting about an immediate pull out from Iraq beginning after the elections being held on December 15. Not only did ALL the partisan politics fail, but it back fired with a backlash from we the people whom they were attempting to influence with this destructive agenda. The President continued on the offensive and his poll numbers showed a dramatic increase this week as well as touting a very robust economy all of which just added to the misery of the Democrats. Oh I almost forgot, Iraqi citizens handed over Al Qaeda's number three man to US troops while Democrats claimed that the people of Iraq did not want us there. I guess helping troops apprehend a terrorist shows they want us to leave! All in all a very BAD week for the left! Ever since the election of 2000 Democrats have been attempting with lie upon lie and false or greatly exaggerated, "scandals, " to destroy the Presidency of George W. Bush. Their hatred of the President has driven their agenda and the American people fortunately are far more politically educated than in the past and had not bought into this agenda of political destruction. Then the polls began to show an apparent Bush vulnerability.....Iraq. Using a constant barrage of leftist media negativity slapping the nation in the face EVERYDAY with body counts and terrorist insurgency attacks, supposed pre-war intelligence lies, NEVER telling the complete truth if at all the left thought they had a foothold on the end of the Bush Presidency and especially an in road to a massive victory in the 2006 elections. So they decided to increase the rhetoric while the President kept quiet. Then something happened that they never took into account. The President began fighting back, the majority in the House and Senate began finally adhering to the conservative agenda that put them in power in the first place, the polls, (which drive Democratic policy), began shifting and the left started having a bad day. Yet despite this shift and the intelligence of the American people in seeing through the left's blatant party politics, most Democrats do not understand that their agenda of destruction is not and will not work with the voters. Yet they stay on this same course continually shifting the attacks or revamping them to give the attacks a little different spin all the time thinking that they are endearing themselves to the voters and in 2006 they will reap the benefits.
Another Democrat attempted a similar strategy in 1972. George McGovern a South Dakota liberal was the Democratic nominee to run against Republican incumbent Richard Nixon. The prominent story in 1972 was the Vietnam war and the country, thanks to a constant media barrage with body counts and twisted reports about US, "atrocities, " in the field were turning against the war and massive anti-war protests topped the headlines. McGovern with his running mate Thomas Eagleton, (who had problems of his own and was eventually replaced with Kennedy man Sargent Shriver), jumped on the anti-war bandwagon and called for an immediate troop withdraw and instituting a minimum income for the poor. McGovern stated that his first act as President if elected would be to bring all the troops home. His campaign slogan was, "Help me bring them home now and safe." McGovern misunderstood the voters and lost in a land slide winning only the state of Massachusetts and the District of Columbia.
Today the left is also misunderstanding the voters. This war is not unpopular as Vietnam was. Yes the populace as in any war are growing tired of war which is understandable. But the people as a whole realize the ramifications to the nation if we pull out before achieving full and complete victory both in Iraq and the numerous other battle lines in this global War on Terror. We the people are not jumping ship in our support for Bush, the war and especially our troops as the left would have us do in their attempt to gain power in Washington. Their, "words, " of support for the troops are just that, words with no meaning for their actions and intent prove their disdain for the military. Their lust for power which drives their agenda sacrifices anything in its path whether it is the troops or the very freedoms and liberties that keep us coherent as a nation. Our sources for the truth are greatly more available today than in 1972 and as such voters are better educated and not buying into this leftist mainstream media barrage orchestrated by the DNC. Yet the left still believes that their agenda of destruction is succeeding and they will take over in 2006 then start the power grab for the White House. Well let them continue to deceive themselves, which they will, let them continue with their lust for power and their agenda of destruction. We the people are not buying it and will not fall into their trap of deception which will be very evident in 2006 as they once again lose another election then claim it was stolen. Remember in their elitist minds only THEY know what is best for the American people and we dumb voters just don't understand it and keep voting against them. Good for us !!

Why the Democrats would lie this often is beyond me. No matter how wrong they know they are they'll say it and get away with it by blaming someone else. The only conclusion I've come to is that they don't even care about the War in Iraq, they just want to use it as a tool for the upcoming elections. At least we know it won't work.
