The Liberal Lie, The Conservative Truth

Throughout the process of whining to get his massive socialist spending bill he calls a stimulus package passed, Barack Obama has continually claimed that the bill contained absolutely no pork. He repeated this lie once again on Monday night during his press conference.

Not only is the bill over run with pork, but Obama obviously is trying to clarify his understanding of what pork is when his spokesman announced that Obama sees pork ONLY as earmarks added AFTER a bill is passed and not when the bill is originally written. This is a load of Obamabull.

Below is a list of pork projects in the bill. Not one will create a new job or stimulate the economy in any way. Each are just liberal pet projects that have long been on the Democrat wish list.

$2 billion earmark for FutureGen near zero emissions power plant in Mattoon, IL
$39 billion slush fund for “state fiscal stabilization” bailout
$5.5 billion for making federal buildings “green” (including $448 million for DHS HQ)
$200 million for workplace safety in USDA facilities
$275 million for flood prevention
$65 million for watershed rehabilitation
$200 million for public computer centers at community colleges and libraries
$650 million for the DTV transition coupon program
$307 million for constructing NIST office buildings
$1 billion for administrative costs and construction of NOAA office buildings
$100 million for constructing U.S. Marshalls office buildings
$300 million for constructing FBI office buildings
$800 million for constructing Federal Prison System buildings and facilities
$10 million to fight Mexican gunrunners
$1.3 billion for NASA (including $450 million for “science” at NASA)
$100 million to clean up sites used in early U.S. atomic energy program
$10 million for urban canals
$2 billion for manufacturing advanced batteries for hybrid cars
$1.5 billion for carbon capture projects under sec. 703 of P.L. 110-140 (though section only authorizes $1 billion for five years)
$300 million for hybrid and electric cars for federal employees
$198 million to design and furnish the DHS headquarters
$255 million for “priority procurements” at Coast Guard (polar ice breaker)
$500 million for State and local fire stations
$180 million for construction of Bureau of Land Management facilities
$500 million for wild land fire management
$110 million for construction for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service
$522 million for construction for the Bureau of Indian Affairs
$650 million for abandoned mine sites
$75 million for the Smithsonian Institution
$1.2 billion for summer jobs for youth
$412 million for CDC headquarters
$500 million earmark for NIH facilities in Bethesda, MD
$160 million for “volunteers” at the Corp. for National and Community Service
$750 earmark for the National Computer Center in MD
$224 million for International Boundary and Water Commission – U.S. and Mexico
$850 million for Amtrak
$100 million for lead paint hazard reduction

Obamabull and Obamasocialism at its worst. The truth is not in this man and the worshipping press and messiah supporters still see no wrong in anything he does. When this package fails, and it will, the only silver lining is that now that Obama has touted this debacle as his recovery package and taken the credit for it as well as putting the weight of the Presidency behind it, when it fails it will insure a one term Presidency.

I have noticed that, according to the Republicans, any money going to a Democratic controlled region is pork and any money heading to a Republican controlled region isn't.

Get real folks. Voters see through your game playing and will continue to see through it in 2010, 2012, 2014, etc.

You're quite funny. You start by accusing others of "whining" but your whole commentary is really nothing BUT whining (not to mention an exercise in puerile name calling and labeling).

As one poster already said, the "pork projects" on your list are not going to appear or operate by themselves. And I agree with the other poster who pointed out how amazing it is how everything seems to be "pork" according to people like you unless the money is going to Republican-controlled regions. Then there always seems to be some justification for it.

Maybe if your precious Republicans had chosen to act responsibly during the previous eight years, Obama wouldn't have to be worrying about a stimulus package. Oh, but I forgot--I’m sure it was all because of those evil, Socialist, godless Democrats (The ones who were the minority party in Congress during that time, and didn’t have the power to do anything without the GOP's blessings. Do you remember that, or do you need to attend a U.S. History class?).

How old are you, anyway? 12? Was this piece first published in a Junior High School newspaper or something?

The bill is too big with out an exit strategy. Also, let the past administration go. You cant cure the future by blaming the past decisions. Have to act in the now.

It's obvious that very few morons take notice of how Mr. Obama re-defined "PORK" as something ADDED to the original draft.

This defies the laws of reason. As long as wasteful spending is included in the original draft and not concocked and added later, it's not "PORK"?

The premise is flawed from its foundation; how many bills do not have items, alterations, changes or additions once proposed? At what point do we call a document "The Original" to even attempt to side-step these blatant lies, deceptions and cover-ups?
