THE LIBERAL LIE CARTOON GALLERY AND YoU cAn'T mAkE tHiS sTuFf Up
YoU cAn'T mAkE tHiS sTuFf Up - MEXICO CITY — The country that gave the world chewing gum is getting gummed up: The average square yard (meter) of Mexico City sidewalk has 70 blobs of discarded chew. Now Mexico is responding with innovations ranging from expensive sidewalk steam-cleaners to natural chewing gum that breaks down quickly. It's even telling its citizens (gulp!) to swallow their gum.
The general in the war on discarded chewing gum is Ricardo Jaral, Mexico City's director for conservation of public spaces. He bemoans the blackened gobs that mar the newly restored 700-year-old downtown area and litter the lovely but porous hand-chiseled sidewalks along the city's main boulevard. He has purchased a fleet of German machines that clean sidewalks with steam and chemicals, and is looking at launching a public-awareness campaign.
"When you finish chewing a piece of gum, you either have to put in a piece of paper and deposit it in a trash receptacle, or swallow it," Jaral said. Not so fast, says Dr. Nick Desai, a pediatrician at the Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt in Nashville, Tennessee. He said swallowing gum isn't a good idea. It usually passes through the digestive system, but can ball up with other objects and cause an intestinal blockage.
"It's nothing to get too upset about if it happens," Desai said. "But we shouldn't make a habit of it." Jaral shrugged off such concerns today: "I've always swallowed my gum, and it's never done me any harm."
Well with the borders so open and illegals still pouring over at the usual rate, it looks like illegal gum is going to be the next immigration problem to plague our streets ! - YoU cAn'T mAkE tHiS sTuFf Up
The stimulus package to nowhere. Tax credits to people who don't pay taxes, infrastructure money that will take years to even reach the economy if at all. Increases in food stamp dollars and increasing the length of time to receive unemployment benefits. The only stimulus this will provide is to the members of Congress who vote for it !
YoU cAn'T mAkE tHiS sTuFf Up - MIAMI — State troopers are looking for a charity to take thousands of shoes that were dumped on a Miami expressway, tying up rush hour traffic. Lt. Pat Santangelo says the Florida Highway Patrol received a call about the shoes this morning.
Santangelo says he's not sure where the shoes came from. There were no signs of a crash and no one stopped to claim them. He says he hopes someone will take them because he doesn't want to send them to the dump. Workers using a front-end loader and a dump truck were able to quickly clear at least one lane by sweeping all the shoes to shoulder, but delays were expected until they could all be removed.
I'm surprised that Al Gore hasn't jumped on this one trying to claim that Global Warming caused thousands of people to melt away leaving their shoes behind. Makes as much sense as the other GW crap he spews ! - YoU cAn'T mAkE tHiS sTuFf Up
Maybe this is why he would not release his Columbia College records. They may just show that he failed his tests in college which could have been taken as a sign of him failing tests in the White House. We are in for a long and tumultuous ride and it hasn't even started yet!
YoU cAn'T mAkE tHiS sTuFf Up - GARDEN CITY, N.Y. — A New York doctor is demanding that his estranged wife pay him $1.5 million to compensate him for the kidney he gave her while they were still on good terms. Dr. Richard Batista spoke today to reporters at his lawyer's office in Garden City, Long Island.
He said he gave his kidney to Dawnell Batista in June 2001. She filed for divorce in July 2005. The 49-year-old Batista works for Nassau University Medical Center.
So if she doesn't pay will he try and reposes the kidney ?!?!?! - YoU cAn'T mAkE tHiS sTuFf Up
Inspector Clouseau may very well be an improvement if Leon Panetta is confirmed as CIA Chief. Then again this is just one more joke in a long line of jokes provided by the President Elect !

LOL! The people of Minnesota who voted for this idiot weren't thinking, Ken. It's obvious.
If they keep having wars down there with the drug cartels they might want to rethink removing the chewing gum. It might help hold things together!
Congress will ruin everything but I guess it's going to have to be done before we can get the idiots out of there, Ken.
That shoe one is weird. Perhaps aliens dumped them there. They came off the people they keep beaming up! LOL!
Not to mention Obama not releasing his real birth certificate!
I hope Senor Batista loses that lawsuit, Ken. What an asshat!
You know, I never put it together before, but Panetta does resemble Clouseau, doesn't he? I agree Clouseau would be an improvement. He may be a clutz but he always somehow manages to succeed.
As usual, a great roundup, Ken. :)
It's interesting to see just how pervasive digital memory has become in our every day lives. It seems like everywhere I turn, I see something with a card slot or USB port, haha. I guess it makes sense though, considering how cheap memory has become lately...
Gahhhhh... I shouldn't be complaining. I can't make it through a single day without my R4 / R4i!
