NEW HAMPSHIRE FIRST VOTE - ITS MCCAIN AND OBAMA
At midnight every Presidential year the town of Dixville Notch, New Hampshire gathers together to be the first in the State to cast their vote in the New Hampshire Primary. This small town of 75 people then tallies the vote and announces the winner shortly after midnight.
Their record for picking the eventual nominee is also pretty impressive. For instance in 1992 this little township picked Bill Clinton who lost the Primary to Paul Tsongas. In 2000 on the GOP side Dixville Notch picked George Bush who lost to John McCain in the New Hampshire Primary but went on to win the nomination and the Presidency.
Now of course from a scientific stand point who this little township votes for amounts to very little in New Hampshire and also in the grand scheme of Presidential politics. But their record for choosing the winner is still impressive and has many times been different than the results of the overall Primary.
Once again the towns people met in the early hours of Primary day and cast their vote. The tally is as follows:
REPUBLICAN - John McCain - 4
Mitt Romney - 2
Rudy Giuliani - 1
DEMOCRAT - Barack Obama - 7
John Edwards - 2
Bill Richardson - 1
There you have it the final results from the first vote in the first State Primary for 2008. Notice that the two candidates who have been dominating the news lately, Mike Huckabee and Hillary Clinton not only lost in Dixville Notch but did not receive a single vote!
The rest of the State is still voting and reports are that voter turn out is very high. Will Dixville Notch pick the winner ? Only time will tell as the vote tally is counted and New Hampshire once again fades into the history books.

It is pretty exciting and as you point out the turnout appears to be very high.
My guess is that it is going to be Obama big and Romney will edge McCain. I think a lot of the independents that voted for McCain in 2000 will break for Obama. This will be good for Romney.
In my "upset special" I think Ron Paul will shock folks by coming in third in the Republican field. Fox did everything it could for the Republican establishment by leaving him out of the debate, but he will still have a stronger showing than Thompson and Rudy, and perhaps Huckabee.
It sounds like Dems are again going to have significantly more voters, just as they did in Iowa. Bad sign for Republicans.
We'll see how it all turns out in a couple of hours.
Rob,
The turnout is so high they are running out of ballots and having to go to other counties to get them lol.
People are alot more interested in what's going on then the MSM has been portraying!
Ken,
It looks like Hillary is going down in flames to Obama.
I think we are witnessing the end of the Clinton Dynasty!
Hillary's Crying, Bill's Trippin, I think he might just have more heart problems before this is all over.
And Hillary didnt even bring out her attack machine!
There is all kinds of talk going on around the blogosphere like she may drop out and other stuff.
I was hoping we would beat her in November, not today lol
It's Wednesday morning as I write this. Turns out it's Hillary and McCain. Sheesh! Looks like the Dems fell for Hillary's crying jag. They sure do love an underdog!
Yep Gayle,
It was the tears, those crockidile tears!
