THE LIBERAL LIE PICTURE GALLERY

Liberal enviromental whaco policy = no new refineries in 30 years, no exploration, no drilling 37 different gas blends and...........HIGH GAS PRICES!
35% of Dems who believe that Bush planned and/or new about 9/11 before the attacks and they are the Donkeys backside. That leaves 65% who are _______________ (fill in the blank!)
Let's see 21% approval rating, 22% inflation, gas line at every gas station, Iran hostage crises, the, "Americas best days are behind her, " speech, decimating the military, the misery index, yep Jimmy Carter is the worst President in history!
Chalk one up for the President. The Dems are trying to spin this appropriations bill to make it sound like they won but the truth is they caved because they new they had no chance of getting away with their time tables, spending and micro management of the military. Say what they will they LOST this one and the troops, the President and the country WON!

Yes, you are correct the contry lost this one. We should have been expanding our refineries all along to meet the rise in demand. We should have been drilling on our own soil and coastlines.

Oh, I am sorry. Were you referring to Carter. I know we were lost under him. Double digits in the loss. Double digit unemployement and double digit intrest rates. The worst stock market performance since the Great Crash. The worst engery crisis in our history and a hopeless failure of foriegn policy. Yeah, we lost then too.

The spin from the left is almost funny. They lost, period, and our troops AT WAR won.

Worst stock market performance since the great crash? Carter?
Not exactly, from http://stock-market.superiorinvestor.net/stock-market-crash.html we learn that
the worst crash was in 1987 when the market dropped 508 points.
Carter? He was growing peanuts then. Some has-been movie actor was president. "Conservative Truth" indeed....

However, BB, the Reagan Administration also ushered in the the high tech boom, continued through the Bush 1 Admin, that allowed Clinton to inherit a prosperous America -- until he managed, Democrat to the bone, to help convert it into a recession before the end of his second term. :-)

BB's reading comprehension needs some work.

The question at hand is overall performance of the market during Carter's time in office vs. Reagan's time in office.

Here's the DJIA weekly chart from Carter's time in office. Net loss = 18 points, with most of that time spent 13% - 24% below the highs of that period.

Now, look at the DJIA weekly chart during Reagan's time in office. Net gain = 1265 points (more than double), with almost continuous upward movement, except for the '87 crash, which at the time it ocurred, was only a 27% drop (similar to Carter's -24% performance for most of his tenure).

I'd say that the markets clearly surged under Reagan, while they floundered under Carter.

Henry, you're right..my comprehension needs work. The
original reference to worst crash
led me to the '87 market tumble, rather than overall economics.
