PRESIDENT BUSH AND THE NATIONAL STRATEGY FOR COMBATING TERRORISM
President Bush spoke before the Military Officers Association of America today as he began a public campaign concerning the war and where The United States stands as well as the strategy that defines this war. The President gave numerous examples of the accomplishments that have been made and mentioned set backs also. He also stressed in several examples in quotes from terrorist leaders like bin Laden, al Zwarheri and the leaders of Hezbollah as they each referenced on many occassions their strategy against the United States and much of it dealt with terrorist plans for Iraq and why they not only want the US to leave but want Iraq as their base of operations. The transcript of the President's speech is available throughout the web so I will not go further into what he said except for sharing with you a page on the White House website that the President mentioned in his speech. There has continually been constant critisism of the President concerning not having a comprehensive plan or strategy for fighting this war. The left especially has been extremely critical without stating in any form other than a few sound bites that play well to the media any specific ideas or plans on how to conduct the war. Their, "strategy, " has basically consisted of condemnation, accusations and vague thoughts about time tables, pull outs and false statements about the readiness and capabilities of our military. Never have any critics supplied the first detailed idea or strategy concerning the war. The President now has declassified the basic strategy for combatting terrorism which has been in existance since this war commenced. A strategy that was developed and fine tuned after the 9/11 attacks and one which has evolved as any military strategy does as the war has continued. One can hope that the revelation of the comprehensive and on going strategy will silence critics as they realize the extent of the war we are in and what we face in the enemy. But of course we are dealing with liberals who do not see the threat as real and only wish for the days when it would become only a law enforcement problem again. This is a multi-facit war that entails military, intelligence, law enforcement and even the tips from private citizens for it to succeed. Read the strategy and look at the plan. We are winning this conflict but there is still much work to be done.

More of the same - "we are safer, but not yet safe." Meanwhile the southern and northern borders remain open. Just political talking points in an election year.
Please explain to me who the liberals are who do not think there is a real threat. Terrorists kill all Americans - liberal and conservative. However, I will agree that combatting terrorism is mostly a law enforcement responsibility. The British airliner plot was a law enforcement operation that worked very well. It should also be noted that it was conducted with warrants under the British system of law and that the suspects will all be facing trial. The Brits don't throw terror suspects into secret prisons for indefinite detentions with no formal charges. Nor do they submit suspects to aggressive questioning that some would argue (present company included) is tantamount to torture.
The fact is that we will never win the War on Terror because there is no meaningful way of "winning." Terror has always existed and always will. We are just going to have to live with it. The War on Terror is simply a way to feed military contractors and control people through fear. If we seriously want to root out the source of Islamic terrorism, then it is going to take decades of relationship building, bridging communication gaps with our enemies, human intelligence gathering, good law enforcement, and in some (rare) cases military action.

- For once I can agree, to a degree, with you. But why do you want to build bridges of communication with enemies? I am only left thinking you want to “negotiate with terrorists.” That is not a personal attack Rob. You and I have it out in a mature way I believe, but I can make sense of what you said for the most part… not that part. Can you explain? You are fine with basically being reactive instead of proactive for DECADES allowing terrorists to build and attack, I can’t understand that either.
Controlling people through fear? I don’t think it takes a whole lot of urging for people to be afraid that there are people that would love nothing more than to walk in to the local mall and take out as many people as possible.

You actually believe that terrorism in the world will be wiped out? Do you have a jar of pixie dust that you are planning on sprinkling over the globe? That will be a great day, when the whole world holds hands and sings together in peace.
If you do not communicate with the enemy, then you have xenophobic misperceptions that fester and encourage conflict. Nobody is talking about negotiating with terrorists, but opening lines of communication can solve problems. What do you think happened in Libya?
Being proactive does not only mean launching missiles or invading countries. Developing dialogues and intelligence gathering capabilities are part of that. So is doing good law enforcement just as the Brits did. The whole airliner plot was exposed by initial tips from the British Muslim community, followed by police surveillance under the protection of a warrant. They prevented an attack and didn't have to invade a country.
I don't live in fear of a terrorist attack. I went to the mall over the weekend to get my kids some back to school clothes. Not once did I think that terrorists were going to blow up the mall. Fear is a tool to control people, and Bush constantly pulls out terror talk whenever he wants a political bump.
Tell me, if this is the great challenge of our time as Bush claimed yesterday, then why doesn't he ask for national sacrifice in terms of energy/oil conservation, securing our borders, and repealing tax cuts for the wealthy so that we don't have to borrow from OPEC, China, and other nations to pay for our huge debts? Americans are not being asked to sacrifice by the President because it is all a political game to him.

By financing the political campaign of adolf hitler america destabilized the entire world plutocracies and then replaced them. america sat out the war as long as it could before pirating the loot at the end and it is the superpower now as a direct result. america is a very carefully manicured plutocracy and you know it.
