CYNTHIA MCKINNEY - COP BEATER
I have held off on commenting on this ridiculous act by Cynthia McKinney, (D GA), because the absurdity of it was so outlandish that I thought it would blow over. Then McKinney continued to use this to race bait and now it looks like this could blow up into an arrest warrant for McKinney and a law suit by those who are supporting this attempt by the Georgia Democrat to stir up racial tensions. In case you have not heard about the altercation following is a brief synopsis. McKinney who has recently put on some weight and changed her hair style attempted to bypass Capitol security because she was late for a meeting. Bypassing security by Representatives is not unusual provided that they have their Congressional identification and pin visible which McKinney did not. When a white Capitol police officer called her name three times and she did not answer he then reached out to stop her by touching her shoulder. McKinney reacted by slugging the officer. Rather than calming the situation by telling the officer who she was and showing her ID, McKinney went on a rampage claiming the officer assaulted her. She then held several press conferences and has since made the news rounds telling that she was profiled because she was black and has gathered an attorney and several out spoken liberals such as Harry Belefonte and Danny Glover to escalate the race baiting and now threatens a law suit and criminal action against the Capitol police officer. Capitol Chief of Police announced today that they were considering charges against McKinney for assaulting the officer and stated that he appropriately stopped her because she was not wearing her ID and the officer performed his duty correctly. He further stated that regardless of who she was, McKinney nor anyone has the right to hit a Capitol officer. McKinney refused on several occasions in interviews to answer direct questions as to hitting the officer instead rambled on about how she was profiled because of her color and how Capitol police continually do the same to all blacks. This act by McKinney is angering many in Congress on both sides of the isle. There is talk of disciplinary action against McKinney who has used race baiting often in the past as a ploy to stir up trouble from a racial stand point. Black, White Green or Purple there is no place for this type of race related rhetoric especially in the United States Congress. McKinney should instead show her gratitude to Capitol police that are diligent enough in their duties to stop anyone who does not follow correct procedures for entering the Capitol. She had no business attempting to pass security without proper ID and her claim that the officer should have recognized her despite the physical changes is arrogance from an elected official who has a reputation of treating people as if they are not her equal. Disciplinary action against this arrogant racist should be taken, which is exactly what should happen regardless of the race of the member of Congress or their political connections. This has nothing to do with race and has everything to do with an elitist who seeks the spotlight whenever she can in an attempt to cause trouble. My hat is off to the Capitol police and especially the officer who correctly performed his duty under difficult circumstances. This act of hers has gone far enough and I hope that the Capitol police press charges and the Congress seek the threatened disciplinary action and then maybe antics by this unethical member of Congress will stop.

Here's hoping she keeps on screaming........The more she does, the worse it is for the Jackals-with-(D)-behind-their-names.
Which is why her own party is distancing itself from her dumb ass.
Non-story in my opinion. The legal process is moving forward, which is certainly appropriate. There is no Democratic support for her actions - she is on her own to defend herself. We don't know what happened, but should get a better feel once charges are filed and as the legal process moves forward (assuming it does).
I applaud the fact that Democrats are not jumping on this and trying to turn it into an issue. I say this because I have faint memories of that happening, in my opinion.
I am greatly amazed, but very ugh... proud of the democrats.
As for McK I hope she is locked up for 5 years for assault on an officer, and I hope ethics charges are placed on her head.
The real news of the day is Libby's testimony transcript that Bush authorized the leaking of classified information to mute the criticisms of Joseph Wilson.
Well, at least Bush got to the bottom of the leaks - he can look in the mirror. Perhaps he just forgot.
Given Bush's rhetoric (and some of the posters on this blog) about how leaks are damaging the country's national security - and Bush's threats to prosecute the media - this certainly does not look good. He looks like a hypocrite to me.
Rob did you listen to the whole story about the, "leaks." They were estimates about Iraq WMD which were leaked legally to counter the lies that Joe Wilson was spinning. Even the liberal press admitted in their reports that the President was well within his authority and legality to leak this information to get the story straight concerning Wilson's aligations and his false reporting of his trip to Niger which when he went public was just the opposite of wht he stated in his official report after the trip. This to is a non-story that the press is trying to make into one in order to make the President look bad as is their usual practice.

You must be referring to Barbara Boxers claim that "its very dangerous for one party to own all 3 branches of the government, the House, the Senate and the White House." HAR, HAR!!! Do you even KNOW the three branches of the government, governor? And how does one "own" them, do votes by the American public have anything to do with it...hmmmmmmmmmm?
I never said Bush did anything illegal. He is within his right to declassify information. But this is obviously a political problem. Bush authorized the leaks of classified information for political reasons - to mute a critic. Nice.
It is now well known that the story of a Saddam-Niger connection regarding an attempt to secure yellowcake was wrong.
Also, the implication that Plame was not a covert CIA operative is completely false. Fitzgerald has made that clear in his indictment of Libby. Plame was covert and no longer is thanks to the leaks out of the White House. That is a fact, not an opinion. There is no speculation about whether she was indeed a covert operative.
Just a follow up for you RA.
Read the transcript of Pat Fitzgerald's press conference from October 28, 2005 in which he laid out the 5-count indictment of Libby. It may be enlightening to you because you seem to think that Plame was not an undercover CIA operative.

1) As even you stated he can declassify material. The material that was disclosed was no longer classified, so wrong on that point.
2) I think it is appropriate to disclose information, to prove wrong someone who has a political agenda not based in facts that can injure the public’s perception and in doing so national security.
Hey rob, if the President has the Pentagon draw up classified war plans to go into Country X. Then prior to the war starting he briefs the nation from the Oval Office that the US is about to commence bombing in Country X. Did he just leak?

Also regarding Fitzgerald. I searched as best I could and could not find the quote. So I am not going to depend on my memory, I just might be charged.
The NIE was declassified on July 18, 2003. Libby disclosed classified information to the NY Times on July 8, 2003. Look it up.
I am surprised that you believe presidents should leak classified information for political purposes. But, hey it's a free country - you're entitled.
Bush did not do anything illegal, he just undercut his constant belly-aching that government leakers and the media should be prosecuted for reporting leaks.
In addition, on September 30, 2003, when asked about Fitzgerald's leak investigation, Bush said:
"I don't know of anybody in my administration who leaked classified information. If somebody did leak classified information, I'd like to know it, and we'll take the appropriate action."
He could have just looked in the mirror if he forgot. At the very least he could have just not said anything, so that he could avoid lying to the American people.
You are confusing the date of declassification with the day it was formally released to the press.
If there is a person that is trying to slander the office of the President with charges of lying, then it is logical why the President would declassify information to show why he made the decicsions he did.
You want reasons for actions, and when you get them you accuse him of leaking classified information.
Why I bother, I do not know.
So you want to argue that "formal" declassification occurred on July 8?
Then, why did Libby leak info to Woodward on June 27, 2003?
Also, why was Deputy National Security Director Stephen Hadley fighting to have the subject NIE declassified in the days leading up to the July 18 "official" declassification?
Libby testified that key Cabinet level officials “were not made aware of the earlier declassification of the NIE “even as those officials were pressed to carry out a declassification of the NIE.” At this time, Hadley was “active in discussions about the need to declassify and disseminate the NIE.”
In other words, as Fitzgerald noted, “Hadley was involved in efforts to declassify what Mr. Libby testified had already been declassified.“

Bush may or may not have declassified the material, we can just ask him. Even if he did declassify the information it appears that the White House is completely incompetent and dysfunctional when it comes to handling classified info.
On top of all of this, the NIE basically rebuts the claim that there was a credible link between Saddam and Niger, and that he was trying to procure yellowcake for nuclear weapons.
I don't believe I said it was declassified on July 8th. I don’t believe I mentioned the date it was declassified. What I did say was that you are confusing the day the document was released from the WH with the date it was declassified.
Beyond that it is not my position to discuss the actual date it was declassified.
I'm with Senator Specter, Bush should explain this to the American people. This could all be resolved if we just ask the President when the NIE was declassified.
His press secretary thought it was July 18.
His CIA director and Deputy National Security Advisor clearly thought it was on July 18.
At best his declassification process is flawed, at worst he is a liar and authorized leaks of classified information.

He could have been more truthful and forthcoming and just said - "I declassified the NIE and authorized the release of formerly classified information." But of course he did not do that and there is ample evidence that the information was still classified when it was leaked to Woodward and Judith Miller.
Something the rest of the USA should know about Cynthia McKinney:
This requires a little "Georgia Political History", so please bear with me...
Back in 1990, the Democrats were running the GA statehouse when redistricting was
mapped out after the Census showed Georgia had gained a Congressional seat, bringing its total to 11.
They neatly carved out the 11th District in east Atlanta.
Cynthia McKinney won the newly created 11th District seat in 1992 by a
whopping 73-27% margin. In the next three elections ( '96, '98', '00 ), she won
by gaining at least 57% of the votes.
The 2000 Census gave Georgia two more Congressional seats for a total of 13.
The Democrats hastily added two seats, hoping to rollback the 1994 Republican Revolt
and re-establish a majority of Congressional seats.
But in 2001, the walls came tumbling down; McKinney opened her big mouth after 9/11
and got creamed in the 2002 primaries by Cynthia Majette, who later won the seat.
And, more importantly, the Dems redistricting backfired and the Reublicans won a
solid 8-5 majority in 2002. McKinney got so pissed off that she arranged for a "disenfranchised"
voter to file a suit. A Democratic judge (the brother of the Democratic majority leader)
ruled that the Dems had to re-re-district the state. McKinney seized the opportunity, using
all sorts of political pressure and piles of cash to influence the committee to wipe out
Majette's voting base and re-create a district that could (and did) elect McKinney in 2004.
They also thinned out some Republican strongholds, hoping to grab a majority.
It worked....sort-of. They got McKinney back in Washington but gained only one other seat
and the Republicans still have a 7-6 majority.
Now we're stuck with her.......or are we?
I think she's toast and here's why:
Section 6, Clause 1 of the US Constitution states that "(representatives) shall in all Cases,
except Treason, Felony and Breach of the Peace, be privileged from Arrest
during their Attendance at the Session of their respective Houses, and in going to and returning from
the same; and for any Speech or Debate in either House, they shall not be questioned in any other Place."
So how does this effect Cynthia McKinney?
The member of Comgress cannot commit a felony ( assaulting a police officer ),
use abusive or obscene language in public that is considered disorderly conduct and a Breach of the Peace,
( yell at the officer, claiming racial profiling, stupidity, etc.) while en route to the floor
of the House of Representatives.
THAT'S why the DC police can ( and probably will ) nail Cynthia McKinney's ass
to the floor boards for this one.
Everyone knows that the DC police hates her guts and are foaming at the mouth over this incident.
The Dems have a chance to get rid of her for good and come away clean, and are perfectly
willing to let the DC police be the "bad guys".
I hope she gets convicted because convicts can't run for Congress and
we'll be able to elect someone else.
