CONGRESSMAN'S NEW CONSPIRACY THEORY
Congressman Maurice Hinchey, ( D NY), has invented a new conspiracy theory about the War on Terror, specifically concerning Bin Laden not being captured. According to the liberal Congressman from upstate New York, the President intentionally let Bin Laden escape when the military had him cornered in Afghanistan. This whaco left winger actually puts forth the theory that Bin Laden was allowed to escape and the Taliban not totally eliminated so as to allow the President to have justification to attack Iraq. This has to be one of the, if not the most lunatic theories that any liberal has put forth to attack the President and his policies. There hasn't been much air play on this one because first Hinchey is a rather obscure Congressman and I also think that this conspiracy theory is even one that Howard Dean would scoff at. Then again knowing Dean's reputation for lunacy one never knows. When backed into a corner on his next television interview, "the mouth, " may just add this one to his list of lunacy. A new low for the left!

You are absolutely right. It is an absurd theory. We should just accept the fact that Bush is too incompetent to lead the hunt for Osama bin Laden. Day 1610 and counting.
I have yet to hear any Democrats come up with a military plan to find Osama. They say we need to leave Iraq, and Bush sucks. But I want to hear a real plan in which you/they feel Osama would be caught.
First of all, Bush is the Commander-in-Chief (he likes to remind us all of that) and is responsible. Isn't he the one who said we'd "smoke him out" and get him "dead or alive." Of course he botched that up just like he botched Iraq, Katrina, the prescription drug coverage, the deficit, etc. But, anyway here is a plan:
1. Remove Rumsfeld and the civilian leadership in the Pentagon that has been wrong about just about everything.
2. Tell the warring factions in Iraq that we will be leaving in one year and to get their act together and compromise on a government. Tell them they will be responsible for their own security.
3. As troops are drawn down out of Iraq, rotate 50,000 more troops to the Afghan-Pakistani border region and bomb the hell out of the caves and mountains. Then send ground forces through the rubble to find the body.
4. I am sure within 2 months we would have bin Laden.

Rob I for one am relieved that you are not Commander in Chief. First totally disrupting the Pentagon would be a disater in war time. Second according to you and many on the left Rumsfeld has failed, the majority believe otherwise. Yes I will admit that there have been mistakes as in ANY war, history proves that many times over. But there have been far more accomplishments, (ie free elections and constitutions in TWO former dictatorial countries).
Next giving a time table would only cause the factions and especially Al Qaeda to wait out the date and then move in to take over creating an Islamic theorcracy of disasterous preportions. Giving ANY terrorist group free access to the center oof the Middle East as a base of operations and enslaving 50 million people.
I agree that bombimg the Afghan/Pakistan border could kill or flush out Bin Laden but this tactic was used extensively at the beginning of the Afghan invasion and all that happened was that Bin Laden and his clan moved into Pakistan and managed to stay a step ahead of the bombing. In truth even 50,000 troops would not work. For instance say one of your reletives was hiding somewhere in the Blue ridge mountains somewhere between Tenn. and Northern Va. Could you and any 50 or even 100 thousand flush him out if he wanted to be lost and had the help and backing of tribes that had lived in the Blue ridge for generations ?
Flushing out one man is not as simple as it sounds plus his death would not end anything for when that head is cut off another will appear in his place. Killing them in mass numbers as has been done for the last three years has hampered much of their capabilities and their numbers are dwindling. Their are many to replace those killed but they too will face much the same fate as those who died before them.

Let me break this to you - there won't be a good solution in Iraq. There won't be a pro-U.S. democracy (looks like women won't have equal rights either). What is most likely to emerge is a "West Iran" country run by a Shiite theocracy.
Same old tired Bush talking point about insurgents waiting us out. The problem with your theory is that the insurgency is mostly Iraqis fighting what they perceive to be an occupying force of mostly white, pro-Israel, Christian Americans. Less than 10 percent are foreign fighters. I hate to be the one to tell you this but Iraqis (the ones we are fighting every day) by definition will remain in the country forever. The violence is also now part of a growing civil war.
The last part of your response is true - Bush has made sure to fuel worldwide terrorist recruiting with his Iraq policy. Which is why we will be at war forever as long as we call it a Global War on Terror. However, killing bin Laden should be a much higher priority given that HE IS RESPONSIBLE FOR 9/11.
Here is the President's plan - stay the course, we'll end it when the job is done. I suppose you are for that plan. That is a joke. What objective are we trying to meet so we know that the "job is done?" I honestly think Bush does not know because of how horribly wrong Iraq has gone. He certainly does not articulate how we will know.
