FINALLY THE TRUTH IS COMING TO LIGHT ABOUT KATRINA FAILURES

Over the last several days the left has been playing the blame game for the slow response to the Hurricane Katrina disaster. Not surprising the blame has been focused toward the President and the Federal response. In a post that was written on the site last Friday, ( http://theliberalslies.blogspot.com/2005/09/truth-about-hurricane-relief.html), I broke down how any emergency response is coordinated beginning with the initial response as the responsibility of the local and state authorities who then, if needed, request Federal assistance. The truth is beginning to filter out showing that failures that were exposed last year in the New Orleans response to Hurricane Ivan, (http://www.newsmax.com/archives/ic/2005/9/3/152800.shtml ), were not corrected since then and the failures were repeated in an identical fashion with Hurricane Katrina. In addition Governor Kathleen Blanco did not declare a state of emergency until Wednesday a full 48 hours after the disaster occurred, ( http://www.newsmax.com/archives/ic/2005/9/4/124905.shtml). The President declared a state of emergency Saturday August 27 TWO DAYS BEFORE LAND FALL! This allowed, at the Governor's request the IMMEDIATE release of any Federal assistance needed. The Bush administration also submitted a request last Friday of a Federal take over of the New Orleans evacuation to hasten the matter and the Governor rejected that request! Yet to listen to the leftist media the President and Federal Government are the problem. If you look at what is happening now with the Feds in charge as opposed to what happened with the City and State in charge the difference is a condemnation to the Mayor of New Orleans, Ray Nagin, and Governor Blanco for the shameful lack of response and the neglect that THEY not the President gave to their own citizens! The death toll is still mounting and will not be known until all the flood waters are gone. I wonder if Governor Blanco and Mayor Nagin can sleep at night thinking of all the city residents who have died because of the response ? No I guess they are to busy blaming the Feds to accept any of THEIR responsibility!
