Lest We Forget
It has been several days since my last submission to this site for several reasons. Like most Americans work has an ability to make us evening couch potatoes and there have also been several different ideas as to content for this posting. I've considered a Kerry, John F Kennedy comparison to prove Kerry is not who he claims to be. Also, a fictitious interview with a "certain,"terrorist leader culminating in the question as to whom he would vote for if he could in the election, (I think we all know that answer). Then the Berger scancal appeared and I thought about that, (many thanks to John for the Fox news link on this). Each time my thoughs would not meld to make what I consider an appropriate article, until now. I work with the public on a daily basis and have some very interesting conversations and through these two things have emrerged. First, most of the people that I have spoken to are in favor of the current administration and many of its policies and second, there is a general fear and pessimism about the election and the future of the country mainly from the onslaught of left wing deception, deciept and fear mongering! With this in mind I think it time to take a page from the Reagan Presidency and remember for a moment just who we are. We are The United States of America. The land of liberty and freedom that shines as a beacon of hope and opptimism to the great masses of the world. We have allowed the few who hate America, both within and without, to gadually and sistimatically take this from us. The negativism from The United Nations, France, Germany, Democrats and Terrorist has clouded patriotism and pride in the "Red, White and Blue" from our thoughts and way of living. This is the land of eternal opptimism where a simple country boy from the back woods of Kentucky grew to be a man that failed at nearly everything he tried yet never lost his faith and and hope in the American dream, campaigned, became President through our greatest test and reminded us, "that this Government of the people,by the people and for the people shall not perish from the face of the earth". Where a man stricken with a debilitating desease told us that, "we have nothing to fear but fear itself!" Then from a wheel chair guided us through the world's greatest conflict! Where a simple farmer from Virginia who felt so undeserving yet through his opptimism and belief in God, Country and this land called America, survived a brutle winter at Valley Forge, rallied tired, disheartened men to drive the greatest army in the world at that time from our shores and then stood faithful watch over the writers creating the document that begins with, "We the People..!" The land where a humble man from Dixon, Illinois can become the catalist to end communism. Where a failed haberdasher can place the sign, "the buck stops here," on his desk in The White House. Where a poor kid from Harlem can become Chairman of the Joint Chiefs and Secretary of State. This is the land of Yellowstone, Mount Rushmore, the Blue Ridge and Niagra. This is also the land of the small town general store, the kids selling lemonaide on a hot summer afternoon and a few friends watching their favorite team on a Sunday afternoon. Who are we? We are the super power that liberates and does not conquer, the friend who rebuilds a foe, the only hope of freedom and liberty to an oppressed world. We are the Stars and Stripes, The Statue in the harbor whose beacon always shines, the shining city on a hill. We are The United States of America, God sheds his grace on thee as we crown thy good with brother hood from sea to shining sea. May God bless this land, may our flag ever wave proudly and may we never doubt nor ever forget who we are!
