It seems to be the Republican talking point of the month, to attempt to paint Obama's presidency as having "increased" unemployment. But you can only make that argument if you start in a frankly dishonest basis: that inauguration day should be the baseline.
ReplyDeleteDo you seriously not remember what was happening in our country on that very inauguration day? We were hemmoraging jobs the day before he took office and the day after he took office.
Do you seriously believe that *any* president could have turned a crashing economy as big as ours around in a mere 24 hours? That is totally unrealistic, yet that is the standard you are using when you make this argument about Obama's "Failed" economy.
The fact of the matter - and the fair way to look at the data - is to notice that within a mere few months, the Obama administration had stopped the hemorrhaging of jobs and the decline of our stock market. Within that same quarter, we had started adding jobs, increasing GDP, and the stock market was on the upswing again.
Every single quarter since, we have added jobs, increased GDP, and the stock market has now doubled from where it was when Obama took office.
Your argument attempts to persuade people to a different point of view - by using an impossible starting point. Frankly, it's a pretty dishonest argument. Even in the business world, when a new executive comes in, they are not held to this impossible standard.
